- Communications: Messages you send through the in-app chat feature and vendor outreach tools.
Information Collected Automatically
When you use the App, we may automatically collect certain information, including:
- Device information: Device type, operating system version, and unique device identifiers.
- Usage data: How you interact with the App, including features used, pages viewed, and actions taken.
- Log data: IP address, access times, and error logs for troubleshooting purposes.
Information from Third Parties
We may receive information from third-party services, including:
- Venue partners: If your venue is a Knotbook partner, they may share venue policies, packages, preferred vendors, and documents relevant to your wedding.
- Location services: If you use vendor search, we may use Google Places API to provide nearby vendor results. We do not store your precise location.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide, maintain, and improve the Services.
- Personalize your experience and deliver relevant content and recommendations.
- Facilitate communication between you, your partner, your venue, and vendors.
- Send vendor outreach emails on your behalf when you use the email feature.
- Process and manage your wedding planning data, including budgets, tasks, and timelines.
- Respond to your requests, comments, and questions.
- Monitor and analyze usage trends to improve the Services.
- Detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security vulnerabilities.

3. How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information in the following limited circumstances:
- With your partner: If you invite a partner to your wedding on Knotbook, they will have access to your shared wedding data (budget, vendors, tasks, venue information).
- With your venue: If your wedding is linked to a Knotbook venue partner, the venue may have access to limited information necessary to coordinate your event.
- With vendors: When you use the outreach or email features, your name and wedding details are shared with the vendor you are contacting.
- Service providers: We may share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting, email delivery, and analytics. These providers are contractually obligated to protect your information.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law, legal process, or government request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Knotbook, our users, or the public.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard encryption and security practices. We use Supabase for data storage, which provides encryption at rest and in transit, row-level security policies, and regular security audits.
While we implement commercially reasonable security measures, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Services. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within 30 days, except where we are required to retain it for legal, accounting, or regulatory purposes.

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have certain rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: You can request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
